Regret the mistakes

‘I regret the mistakes I made in the past’. An article in a newspaper had this statement said by a famous person. Time and again I have heard enough people say it and I equally have said it n number of times! Regrets we all have and there are just too many. But and this is a very big but! But, why what one did in the past is classified as a mistake? The reply will be, because it turned out to be. Now, that’s a hindsight realization, right?
Let me ask this of my readers, do you knowingly jump in a pothole/puddle, nah, except when you did it as a child while playing. So, when a decision is taken to start something, be it a new relationship, buying a property, starting a business, shifting jobs, etc, etc, at that time do you have the vision which route that decision is taking you! If you knew something was going to fail, would you even get into it.
There are many decisions taken which do not take you to the destination you had thought it would take you. But, hasn’t it taken you somewhere? And have you not learnt a lot of things on way! Every seed sown is not going to bear fruits always, the plant may fall down, get eaten by cows, get infested with insects and what not. But, you watered it, protected it and nurtured it. Had you known it was not going to bear fruit, you would have not made the efforts, but fearing failure, you did not take the step at all, then.
When you start anything new, you are starting with full hope and faith, and you put in all your efforts, but sometimes it was not to be! That what you started may spawn another new venture or relationship which turns out great, who knows? Don’t just rot away, be as the Nike ad says-Just do it and continue in life as Johnny Walker says- Keep walking.
Do share your thoughts and comments and if you need to talk to me please do not hesitate, as I am a passionate motivator. Thanks for reading :D

Love at First Sight

Love at First Sight

Falling in love at first sight, I had read only in Mills & Boon and Harlequin romantic novels. What was it and how did it feel? I obviously could not ask my mom, though I shared literally all with her.

Every guy I met, I used to fantasize that it was Him! Head in clouds all the time I pretended to be love sick when I was not. My friends used to giggle and speak in hushed tones about their beaus and I had to pretend to be happy for them and giggle with them.

Life went on and I grew up, taking it for granted that it was all a myth and stopped mooning finally! Parents got me hooked up with a guy and for a while I thought maybe he could be the one! But no violins played and no heartstrings got pulled, just got married because it was the next phase in life. Life carried on in its mundane form and romance stayed only in the books, sigh!

And then, it happened J finally. Do you know what? I fell in Love, madly in Love and joy for me knew no bounds. I was dancing within and could not stop smiling. I remember the day, date and the time. It was Saturday the 15th of May and the time was 3.15 pm. Who was it you ask, it was my beautiful baby daughter! And finally my wish was fulfilled, it was love at first sight!

You may wonder what is this? Here there was a buildup of romantic love and this, what is this? But I ask you, is love only romantic. No, the word love is very vast and encompasses so much more. Love can hold the whole world in it and will still have space left!

Love, you are so beautiful,
That we can fall in love with love itself,
Or in love with our cat, our dog and even a pig!
As love knows no boundaries!
Fall in love with a stranger and
Create our own beautiful universe!
Love, you are limitless and boundary less,
You cut across all barriers and
Spread so much Joy,
What more can I say then, except
Love, you are so beautiful!

The Stalker

                                                                                                          The Stalker
Last night on my way home, I sensed a presence behind me, a sinister presence! I was walking along a dark lonely stretch and at that late hour there was no one around! I hurried my steps, looking furtively around but could not see anyone, could only sense the presence. I knew it was Him!

Then just as I was about to start running, he lunged at me. I had started carrying a small hammer with me and had it in my hand and when he lunged at me, I hit him hard many times and, and I think I killed him! I fled the scene and ran like mad all the way home.

Next morning, the doorbell rang and I opened the door, he was there standing in front of me, eyes wildly staring at me. I killed you last night I whispered, I killed you!

He kept on walking towards me and I had to keep on backing into the house. ‘Who are you here, what do you want, I asked?’ The sofa was behind me and I tumbled down on it and sat absolutely still, shell shocked. He sat opposite me just staring and I kept on whispering, but I killed you, I killed you!

Background…..I am a working girl living in another town, I had an awesome job. My only issue was that our office meetings used to go on till late, my good luck I had cool boss who let me come in late to work. This was practically my schedule 4-5 days a week, but I was ok with it as I loved my job, salary was good and I had the weekends off!

All was going well and then I started to get the feeling that that someone was following me. When I stepped out for lunch, went shopping, on way to office, etc, it was just a niggling thought and feeling. I had not spotted anyone, but it was just, you know how it is, a sixth sense. And I was very sure he had been stalking me earlier too when I was studying! But that was a long time ago!

I told my office colleague and the colleague accompanied me for a few days, but there was no one and for a couple of days after that even when I was on my own, there was no one and no feeling of being watched. I felt that maybe it was just a figment of my imagination and left it at that.

Present… And then last night happened, and now in the morning he was here, sitting in my house in front of me, but he had no injuries! I was sitting shell shocked looking at him, waiting for him to speak.
After a long time he spoke and said, ’He was my brother, my twin brother. When he went out last night, he left his phone behind.’ He showed me a lot of my pics which had been clicked from college days and in the recent past. I was looking at him suspiciously and asked, ’Why are you here, what do you want?’ He was just looking down at the phone and fiddling with it. After a while I again asked, ‘Why are you here? Answer me dammit, why are you here?’ By now I was getting hysterical and more scared than ever.

Then he suddenly got up, I got up in fright too. He kept on advancing with his hands stretched out, I was looking around to grab something to hit him with and to protect myself. He suddenly came very fast ahead and just caught my hand and shook my hand vigorously and said. ‘I can’t thank you enough for the big favor you have done, he had made not only my life miserable but of countless girls too. Here, I have erased his phone, so the cops will not know about you.’ Live in peace he said, gave me the phone and walked out.

I just sat down with the phone in hand and clicked it as it was glowing, on the screen was written, ‘And now I have met you and know where you live, The Stalker’

Knock on the same door

 Knock on the same door

This post originally I had written for my spiritual blog, but it contains insights for entrepreneurs and all others as well. Where I am mentioning Guru, one can replace with mentor. Do share your thoughts and queries in the comments.

Have you noticed that when in life difficulties come, we knock on the same set of doors? Now these doors have been earlier knocked on and some have helped, most have not.

I remember my own difficult time I did the same thing and got the same answers from the same people, when I knew the outcome why did I do so? What made me think that this time they would help? Why did I open myself up to more slap downs and an earful of hurtful words? I used to wonder on it and never found answers.

Soon I got my answer and that too quite unexpectedly! One day at Guruji’s Ashram I was standing with Him near a window. In the morning hours, all the mosquitoes and insects fly out, there were these couple of them who were continuously literally knocking on the netlon mesh and trying to go out. I said to Him, ‘There is this big door on this side lying fully open, why don’t they just fly out from there, instead of repeatedly trying from a closed space?’

Guruji looked at me and said, ’Are you not doing the same thing in your life? You are knocking on the same closed doors with blinkers on and are repeatedly trying to open them to get answers to your issues!’ I sheepishly looked at Him and asked then what to do Guruji?

Guruji said, ‘Open up your mind, do lateral thinking, think out of the box.’ I was still looking down with a crestfallen expression on my face, when he said, ‘ Listen to this story from Shri Ramakrishna Parmahansa’s book.

The story…. One day a woodcutter was chopping wood in the jungles, after a while he sat down tired and was worried. A passing saint saw him and asked what the problem was? When the woodcutter explained, the saint responded with, ‘Go ahead!’ Initially the woodcutter just wondered what instructions he had been given. The next time when he was in the forest, he remembered the saint’s advice and decided to go further into the woods. As he went further he found a silver mine, he took a sufficient amount with him and went home to his family. They started enjoying a good and a comfortable life. Then he recalled the saint’s advice again, ‘Go ahead!’ He again went to the forest, further than the silver mine and found a gold mine! He was happier than before and led an even more comfortable life. He again went to the forest and went still further and found a diamond mine! He was thrilled to bits.

I asked Guruji what the story meant, Guruji replied,’ It means that just because you are facing problems does not mean you stop trying, when from some doors you do not get answers, go knock some more and more and more. Sometimes for the right door to open for you it is destined that you knock on all the others which did not reply.’ ‘Remember that student who got married to the 13th alliance he was introduced to. To reach 13, he had to go from 1-12.’ Always keep in mind that there is no stopping, you have to ahead and ahead and ahead and this you have to do with full Faith and you will find your answers!

I followed his advice and did find my answers and it was exactly as he said, I had to keep knocking and knocking and knocking! By the way I had not shared with him that I had been unsuccessful in my efforts, then how did he know what was going on with me at that time? That’s how the Guru’s are, there is nothing hidden from them. I am truly Laki(lucky) to have Him guide me!

Inspiration By Nature

Morning’s news says, rain for the next 5 days, due to low pressure depression!
Nature cries by raining down when she is depressed
And then the clouds disperse and sun shines through.
So in life when we feel down and out,
Have a good cry and pour it all out,
And then the clouds will disperse
And your smile will shine through,
Like the sun J

Second Income

The life of an entrepreneur is not an easy one and this everyone will agree with me. He/she is responsible for each and everything in their venture including finance. As we all know expenditure just keeps on mounting and sales/income generated just do not match up. You are taking out funds which you have parked for various different uses and still there is shortfall. In this situation if you are the only earning or the major earning member then the shortfall also gets felt at home.

In this scenario how would it be if you had a second income? Now I know what you are thinking, that first of all you barely have any time to complete work for your venture, family and friends have been relegated to a back seat and in that do something additional! Second income is always welcome, but where to find the time and what work will you get?

For this, you need to introspect and bring out some other talents that you have. For eg, you may be very good at say teaching some language, check out if some coaching class is willing to let you take a weekend batch, that can give a small additional income. Or you are good at computers and have patience, on weekends if you can teach some senior citizens, this will help them in keeping in touch with their loved ones whom they miss and you get to earn. This list is endless, so you need to find that talent and make use of it.

As far as I am concerned, besides my business, I am very passionate about motivating others. In my 20+ years of experience in business and corporate life of close to 10 years, I have gone through my fair share of ups and downs and the tough years have made me a very strong woman with a do not say die attitude. So not only do I share my practical learning's but pass on my strength and motivate at the same time. This I had been doing for quite some time and recently got paid for it! Though the amounts were small, but every drop matters!

Since childhood I was crazy about acting, but brought up in a conservative family it was out of question. This desire had remained just that a desire! But the Universe heard me and I got opportunities to act. In the last 1 year I have acted in 3 ads, links are at the end of the blog. Acting paid quite well and I am looking forward to continuing.

What happens in this is that, our other passions can not only generate some much needed cash but it also rejuvenates us. When I am motivating others, I am listening too and that motivates me also. This also becomes like a much needed welcome break and we come back with a fresh vigor, ideas and perspective. Plus you have met so many other people, made friends and connections which you never know can help in your venture and get some additional business too!  All in all, no harm done, only caution is not to get carried away and neglect the main venture.

So go ahead and arrive at your answers. I wish you all the very best and if you have any query please do write to me.

Keeping Commitments

Keeping commitments for an entrepreneur with all the upheavals that he/she faces is many times very difficult. So what exactly is happening in their life? Are they doing it deliberately to trouble someone or did they just forget/overlooked thinking there is enough time at hand!

Till an entrepreneur grows really big and has a big team he/she has to perform the duties from that of a peon, sweeper to a CEO! In all of this you may say it’s ok or like they say in Hindi,’Chalta Hain’. But this chalta hain can have many repercussions for the entrepreneur and others.

Eg-Entrepreneur.Let’s take the phone bill, the due date gets missed and late payment charges are Rs100/-.One can say it’s ok,it’s only 100 bucks not a big deal! But at the end of the year it will total to Rs 1200/-.Now think how many other due dates have been missed and how many late charges would you be paying? And pray where are these funds coming from? They are either pure profit or capital, what an unnecessary waste!

Now if you always pay on time and once in a while get delayed, one can always request the company and they will waive off!

Eg- Others. You delay salary inspite of having funds and you rationalize saying it’s ok, just late by a few days, what does it matter? But you never know that salary may mean life and death for your staff. School fees, rent, groceries etc,you never know,so why delay?

Hence even though these may fall under mundane jobs, pay attention and deliver on time. When one learns to keep commitments in these small matters, it brings discipline in the more important spheres of business also. And in the words of my mentor,’ Light that spark within you and soar away to spectacular performances’
